Diptendu Kar is currently a security researcher at Semgrep, working in the supply chain team to build rules that identify vulnerabilities in customers code. He is also a part-time lecturer at Northeastern University, teaching the Software Security Practices (CY-6120) course. He graduated with a Masters in Cybersecurity from Northeastern University in 2023. Prior to that, he was a Java developer at Tata Consultancy Services, where he worked on modernizing business rule implementations for Farmers Insurance Group. His interests lie in software security, particularly dependency health and patch verification—ensuring upgrades don't break code. Beyond that, he has a perpetual fascination with cryptography, which he considers nothing short of magic.
